Keeping your seed phrase secure
As Omni is a self-custodial wallet, we do not have access to your seed phrase or your funds. You are 100% responsible for managing and controlling your seed phrase. As a result, keeping your seed phrase secure is very important. There are two things you need to consider:
Do not share your seed phrase with anyone else
Do not lose the storage of your seed phrase
Below are a few pointers for you to follow so that you do not wind up leaking your seed phrase to a malicious actor or forget where you stored your seed phrase.
The best form of seed phrase storage is your brain. But, the human memory is not a 100% reliable. Ensure you backup your seed phrase in a password manager, cold wallet, or have it written in a piece of paper that is safely hidden.
Never store your seed phrase online. This gives hackers an opening to uses malwares to access your account.
Never enter your seed phrase into any online application without your due diligence. There are many scams that disguise themselves as secure platforms that you can input your seed phrase into. You could be innocently providing seed phrase to malicious actors. Always check and double check where you input your seed phrase.
